LOGANSPORT, Ind. --

A woman was arrested Thursday on a felony theft charge after she stole more than $5,000 from the Logansport Police Department, where she worked as a secretary, Indiana State Police said.

Jodi Nicoll, 51, of Logansport, turned herself in at the Cass County Jail on Thursday.

ISP said a three-month investigation led to the arrest after the State Board of Accounts found that fees collected by the department from January 2008 through July 2010 had not been deposited with the treasurer.

"The fees were collected when the public requested gun permit applications, crash reports, crash photos, vehicle identification checks and fingerprinting," said ISP Sgt. Tony Slocum.

Police said Nicoll collected the fees but kept the money and used it for herself. She no longer works for the department.
