DETROIT --
Personal medical records were found Monday at the intersection of Sarena and Sanger streets in west Detroit.
Neighbors said they found the pile of records on a curb. The files disclose personal information of hundreds of people, including medical records, social security numbers and photos, police said.
Concerned neighbors called police.
"This is how we live," said Sonja Benson, who lives nearby. "If I get sick, y'all are going to take my information and put it on the ground like this? This is real sad to me."
Local 4 has learned that the files belong to a closed Detroit adult foster care facility called "Home Sweet Home."
The owner of the facility told Local 4 she had no idea the records were dumped like that, and that she plans to properly dispose of them.
