Asheville police say a man shoved two officers and headbutted another while they were trying to arrest him Sunday morning.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. --

A man shoved two officers and headbutted another while they were trying to arrest him early Sunday morning, Asheville police said.

Police said they were called to Magnolia's Nightclub in reference to an assault. They said that during the investigation they determined that 25-year-old Ronnie Reece Jr. had attacked another man during a dispute about Reece's girlfriend.

Investigators said that as officers were trying to arrest Reece he shoved two of them away and was able to run about 200 yards down Spruce Street before he was stopped by a third officer.

Police said that as the third officer was placing Reece into a patrol car, Reece headbutted the officer. They said several officers then put leg restraints on Reece and took him to jail.

Reece is charged with three counts of assault on a government official, intoxicated and disruptive, simple assault and resist, delay and obstruct.
