April 4, 2024
Huntsville police were called to the hospital concerning an assault victim, who they arrested in connection with a November murder after an officer recognized the suspect.

Huntsville police have arrested a man in connection with a homicide last November.

Capt. Jesse Sumlin said Walter Escoria-Gomez, 29, has been charged with murder. He is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.

Escoria-Gomez faces charges in connection to a killing on Nov. 21 in the 3900 block of Cobb Road at 10:47 p.m.

Officers in the area on an unrelated call located the victim, Francisco Ramirez, 33, after hearing a loud altercation and gunshots.

Ramirez was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believed the shooting resulted following a verbal altercation between acquaintances.

The suspect was not present at the time officers were on scene.

Early this morning, police officers were called to Huntsville Hospital for an assault victim.

According to Sumlin, one of the responding officers recognized the assault victim as the murder suspect from November.
