STRboost

STR analysis is a powerful forensics analytical tool. However, not all biological evidence is easily amplified by PCR. STRboost enables forensic scientists to enhance their multiplex STR analysis by addressing challenging samples, such as trace evidence, low copy number, degraded samples and those containing inhibitory factors. It can eliminate the need to repeat amplification reactions and help improve confidence of genetic analysis and successful recovery of DNA profiles. STRboost improves peak balance, increases the number of allele calls, enhances peak height definition and helps to overcome common inhibitory factors such as heme, indigo dye and humic acid. STRboost incorporates into existing multiplex PCR workflows. Current cycling conditions and equipment can be used with commercially available genetic identification kits such as ABI's Identifiler and Promega's PowerPlex 16 Systems.
