Top products honored for contribution to law enforcement professionals

Fort Atkinson, WI (April 19, 2007)-- Cygnus Business Media's Law Enforcement Group announced today it is accepting entries for their 2007 Innovation Awards honoring those companies that seek to provide law enforcement with ground-breaking products that assist in their quest to always get their man (or woman).

"From training to surveillance, and vehicles to weapons, the law enforcement industry has resources to respond to virtually any scenario," says Group Publisher Patrick Bernardo. "Innovations that provide the necessary tools to close cases and get criminals off the streets are worthy of more than just an award, they can often be the difference between life and death. We want to honor the work and commitment used to develop the industry's most significant products."

Nearly 200 products were nominated for the 2006 Innovation Awards which are given in 17 categories: communications, computers, corrections, firearms, firearms accessories, forensics, hazmat/WMD, less-lethal, security, software, surveillance, tactical, traffic enforcement, training, uniforms and body armor, vehicles, and vehicle accessories. Products introduced between May 1, 2006, and May 1, 2007, qualify for entry in the 2007 Innovation Awards program.

Judging will take place during Enforcement Expo, from July 11 to 12, in Cleveland, Ohio and be based on a product's overall contribution to the law enforcement industry, innovativeness, ease of use, durability and maintainability. Finalists will be given a 15 percent rate reduction for exhibit space at the 2008 Enforcement Expo, as well as additional promotional visibility before and during the show. 2007 Innovation Awards "finalist" and "winner" logo artwork also will be available for use in print and online advertising.

The 2007 Innovation Awards will be presented during the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference, this year to be hosted in New Orleans. All participating companies will receive an invitation to the awards reception in New Orleans, date and time to be determined. Each winning product will be featured in a special Innovation Awards editorial section in the December 2007 issues of Law Enforcement Product News and Law Enforcement Technology. Officer.com will also feature a special section showcasing the winners.
