RAE Systems, Inc.'s RDK Ruggedized Host, a host controller for AreaRAE toxic gas and radiation sensor networks, consists of a rugged laptop computer with an embedded RAELink wireless modem and pre-configured ProRAE Remote software. The controller provides real-time communication with up to 64 remote monitors, and logs sensor data for historical viewing and interfacing with third-party software. The embedded RAELink modem provides the network with a two-mile range, giving incident commanders the ability to manage the sensor system from the “safe zone.” When connected to the Internet the controller can push data over a secure web browser for real time use by remote specialists. It can also send alarm conditions to cell phones via text messages. Applications for the ruggedized host include hazardous materials response, public venue protection and short-term industrial deployments as well as mobile network applications.
RAE Systems' RAELink3 is a wireless modem for integrating RAE Systems' portable instruments into AreaRAE toxic gas and radiation detection networks. RAE Systems Monitors and third-party products linked with a RAELink3 modem can communicate sensor data and GPS coordinates to a command center's PC running ProRAE Remote Software up to 2 miles away. Bluetooth connectivity simplifies use with handheld monitors, while a user-friendly display and interface simplify configuration and status checking of the RAELink3. Applications include first responders, confined space entry, industrial incident response, public venue protection, industrial survey and safety, as well as perimeter monitoring.
RAE Systems Inc. announces three new chemical specific electrochemical sensors for the AreaRAE wireless sensor system: Hydrogen Chloride (HCl), Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) and high-range Carbon Monoxide (CO). This is one of the first intrinsically safe combined radiation detector and radiation dosimeter in one water-resistant , decontamination-proof unit. The GammaRAE II Repsonder gives first responders the equivalent of both a "radiation speedometer and odometer" in a compact belt-size unit with audio, vibration and flashing LED alarms.
RAE Systems' third-generation photoionization detector (PID)-based instruments, the MiniRAE 3000 and ppbRAE 3000, are intended for use where hydrocarbon-based chemicals pose a toxic threat. The MiniRAE 3000 has an extended measurement range of 0.1 parts per million (ppm) to 15,000 ppm. The ppbRAE 3000 offers an extended measurement range of 1 part per billion (ppb) to 10,000 ppm. Both products feature a large back-lit graphical display with graphical charting capability and easy viewing in any light condition. The products include more than 200 built-in correction factors for accurately measuring a range of chemicals. Both instruments have optional charging cradles with a USB interface for downloading up to six months of data to a computer for either analysis or record keeping.
The GammaRAE II Responder has the rapid response of a detector and the accurate dose measurement of a dosimeter in one compact design made specifically for first responders. This instrument provides a fast, two-second response to radiological threats, while providing high dose rate range coverage and accurate dose measurements. It alerts the wearer with a loud audible alarm; big, bright, flashing LEDs; and a built-in vibration alarm. For stealth operations, law enforcement personnel can disable each alarm individually.
PlumeRAE is a unique portable plume management and prediction system that enables first responders to rapidly track airborne clouds of gas and other toxic materials. Available from RAE Systems, PlumeRAE is an integrated system that combines the AreaRAE GPS sensors in a Rapid Deployment Kit, plume measurement software from SAFER Systems, and Coastal Environmental Systems' WEATHERPAK, a portable tripod-mounted weather station, giving first responders decision support capabilities when determining the best course of action. With this system, users can view a model of the toxic plume, including the spread, the speed and direction the plume is heading, as well as the concentrations of the toxic materials contained in the plume.
