Texas Police Sergeant Dies After Suffering Medical Episode

Colony Police Sgt. David Fitzpatrick fell ill on June 7 and remained on life support until Tuesday.

COLONY, Texas -- The Colony Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own who died following a medical emergency last week.

Sgt. David Fitzpatrick suffered a serious medical episolde while on duty on June 7 and remained on life support until Tuesday, according to a news release.

Fitzpatrick served with the Colony Police Department for 28 years and the agency's most senior police officer.

"He will be sorely missed by his family, police family, and the countless citizens of The Colony he has served since 1991," officials said in a statement. "We are working with the family to determine funeral arrangements and will announce those plans once they have been formally finalized."

Condolences for the family can be dropped off inside the police department near the Police Records window, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
