November 11th, 2011. I've seen news stories about how it's a lucky day because of the date. I've seen news stories about something unique in the alignment of the stars. I've NOT seen much news about veterans. Today is Veteran's Day. It is a day we are supposed to set aside to appreciate and express our thanks to those who have served this great nation of ours in a military uniform. As an Army veteran; as the son of an Air Force veteran; as the grandson of an Army veteran; as the father of an Army veteran; as the father of a Marine Corps veteran... I have to say THANK YOU to every veteran. I do truly believe that we celebrate our freedoms and liberties every Independence Day directly as a result of the men and women who have served and the services they performed. If you haven't taken a moment in your day, take a few... extend your hand; give a hug. Say THANK YOU to the veterans in YOUR life. To the veterans in MY life - friends and family alike - I am PROUD to call you (at a minimum) 'friend' and I appreciate your service. To the select few, I am PROUD to have served beside you and consider you a brother in arms... a brother in blood. Make time in your day to thank a veteran; do something special to show your appreciation.
