As is so common in my household, my youngest son saw something on television that inspired him to ask me a question that made me have to think. In this case the question was about how NOT to be prey - or how to escape the hunter. After further conversation and some philosophical thinking we came to the conclusion that the only way to cease being prey was to become a hunter; even if that means turning the tables on the hunter to make him the prey. In fact, that's the ONLY way to stop being prey.
Think about it...
Whether you're a police officer, a soldier or a regular everyday citizen, if you are being hunted then you are prey. No matter how long you run, hide, dodge or duck, you are
still being hunted. You are
still prey. Even if you escape the hunter indefinitely, you never stopped being prey; you just left an unsuccessful hunter somewhere behind.
To stop being the prey anywhere along the line - whether it's immediately after the hunt has begun or simply when you get tired of being hunted - you have to turn the tables on the hunter and make him (or her) the prey; to do that, you have to become the hunter in your mind, in your heart and in your actions.
Not everyone is capable of doing that. However, every person who wears a law enforcement or military uniform
had better be!
What do you think?
