From Mommy to Cop

Our bodies are in the right place –but are our minds?

Our loved ones come with expiry dates. You never know when they will be taken away from you. That's why I would not choose to spend an entire shift without talking to any of them, just to come home and during my "transition period" try to squish enough love into them before bedtime, which is an hour away.

Not all people think this way. It may, or may not, be a gender thing or maybe a parent thing. It may just be that I am a fanatical mother who would choose motherhood over policing any day. The pay for motherhood sucks, though. I would need the policing thing to pay the bills.
