Georgia Carjacker Killed in Crash

ATLANTA --

Several lanes of Interstate 20 are back open after police said a suspected carjacker flipped over a guardrail and landed in a ditch, killing himself.

The fatal accident happened at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on I-20 westbound near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in southwest Atlanta.

Police said the victim carjacked a woman on Peters Street. As the man fled in the stolen SUV, he struck a Dodge Magnum on I-20 and flipped over a guardrail. The carjacker was ejected from the stolen vehicle and killed.

Police said the driver of the Dodge Magnum was treated for minor injuries.

The accident closed three westbound lanes of I-20 for several hours.
