A native of Southern California and a CSULB School of Journalism graduate, Mark was on the front lines of the Malibu-Topanga Fires, the 1991 Persian Gulf War, and the Los Angeles Riots; and has covered more train accidents, commercial airline disasters, and police actions than he can remember.
