A Texas police officer died Wednesday from injuries during a shooting over the weekend.
Corpus Christi Police Officer Kyle Hicks was responding to a domestic disturbance call at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at an apartment complex, the Corpus Christi Caller Times reports. During the call, a 26-year-old suspect opened fire and shot Hicks. The suspect was fatally shot by police, and Hicks succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.
“Officer Hicks sustained injuries in the line of duty on April 20, 2024. We mourn the loss of a great husband, father, brother, son, friend and co-worker," the department stated in a social media post.
"As his last act of service, Officer Hicks will be giving the gift of organ donation to save as many lives as possible," the statement added.
