HOUSTON, Mississippi -- A Chickasaw County Sheriff's deputy was killed in a single-vehicle crash while on duty Tuesday night.
Deputy Jeremy Voyles, who was assigned to North Mississippi Narcotic Unit, was traveling on County Road 4 in Houlka around 6:15 p.m. with a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agent when the wreck occurred, according to a news release.
The four-year veteran of the force was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he was pronounced dead.
Voyles previously worked as an officer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Claire Uhiren Voyles and their two daughters, Arrington Claire Voyles and Lola James Voyles.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church in Houston.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 at Parkway Baptist Church in Houston with Bro. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will be at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Houston. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
