A 45-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly attacked and injured two Gloucester Township police officers during a disturbance at an apartment complex on Monday.
John R. Marchetti Jr. was “highly antagonistic, aggressive, and belligerent” to officers called to the Fairways Apartment Homes in the Blackwood section of town to investigate a dispute, Gloucester Township police said.
As officers tried to calm Marchetti, he berated and threatened them, police said. He allegedly lunged toward police, leading to a brief scuffle before he was taken into custody.
Marchetti, of Blackwood, is charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, two counts of aggravated assault on police and criminal mischief.
The two police officers and Marchetti were treated for injuries at an area hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately disclosed by police.
Marchetti was later sent to the Camden County jail. No information about whether Marchetti has an attorney was immediately.
