An escaped pig was captured after trying to outfox police in Gloucester County.

“Sometimes the jokes just write themselves,” Deptford police said on Facebook in sharing video of the caper.

“Albert Einswine,” as officers named him, was first observed running loose Tuesday afternoon in the area Tanyard Road and Brenner Drive in Deptford Township, according to Detective Sgt. Bob Jones.

“He had no concern for traffic and no regard for our traffic safety laws,” Jones joked Wednesday.

The 185-pound, 4-year-old pig had apparently escaped from a farm less than a mile away, Jones said. The animal dodged officers for a short time before they were able to corral him and return him to his owners, Jones said.

“Through the use of de-escalation techniques and the latest technology, officers were finally able to apprehend the suspect,” police said in a statement.
