Police in Wisconsin conducted a special traffic stop to help a man with propose to his fiancée.
The surprise proposal happened earlier this month when businessman Troy Goldschmidt asked Eau Claire police for help, Fox News reports. He enlisted Officer Maggie Andersen and her partner on their days off after he had a "very positive" encounter with her over a lost cellphone during an earlier visit.
Andersen pulled over Goldschmidt and his fiancée, Moria Prichard, at an intersection as they were arriving in town. The officer pretended to have an issue with Goldschmidt's license and asked him to get out of the vehicle.
After Andersen escorts Prichard out of the car, the officer's partner put Goldschmidt's hands, appearing to be placing him into custody. That's when Goldschmidt tipped his hand.
Dropping down on one knee, Goldschmidt professed his love to Prichard and popped the question. Prichard said yes.
"Our parents were waiting inside a restaurant across the street watching the whole thing," said Goldschmidt. "After it was over, they came out, which was an additional surprise."
The couple thanked the Eau Claire police officers for volunteering their time.
"You never know what's going to happen on a traffic stop," the department stated in a social media post with the video.
