Well, sports fans … it's July and it's HOT!
Across our country we're seeing near-record-high temperatures and the heat injuries to go with them. We don't usually have the option of staying inside a nice air-conditioned building, although we're lucky enough (most of us) to spend the bulk of our time in air-conditioned vehicles. SWAT doesn't usually even get to do that (if it's a full-time team).
When you're training and during ops, make sure you pay attention to the signs and symptoms of heat injury. Heat injuries are very common and can take you out of the fight, into the hospital, just as fast as any other injury. Pay attention!
Stay safe. Stay frosty.
