In a report released this week, an independent monitor found that the Chicago Police Department's staffing shortages have negatively affected a court-ordered overhaul of the department.
As the Bristol Police Department and community continues to mourn the deaths of two officers, officials are "putting out a call to action" to hire up to 20 more officers.
The nationwide recruitment campaign announced by Gov. Glenn Youngkin is intended to bring out-of-state police officers to Virginia in an effort to "get more badges on the street.”
“Things will only get worse if we don’t address our staffing issues,” said Denver police Chief Ron Thomas as the city looks to spend over $8 million on adding new positions and filling openings.
