Maskless Robber Strikes Kentucky Bank

A robber forgot to put his mask over his face on Monday and put the stolen money into his bright pink bag.

Nov. 22--A robber who forgot to put his mask over his face walked into First Security Bank on Monday afternoon and demanded money, which he put into his bright pink bag before walking out.

The Bowling Green Police Department was called to the bank at 1960 Cave Mill Road at 1:30 p.m. Monday after the bank had been robbed, BGPD spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward said.

No customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

Witnesses describe the man as 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet to 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He is believed to be either Hispanic or Asian, Ward said.

In surveillance photos, the robber is shown wearing a white surgical mask around his chin and carrying the pink bag, which has either a yellow or lime green stripe on it.

The robber was wearing a blue South Pole jacket and implied to a teller that he was armed with a gun, Ward said. The jacket had two white, horizontal stripes on the sleeves.

The robber never displayed the handgun he said he was carrying.

After a bank teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, he took off with it inside his pink bag, walking in the direction of the nearby Greenwood Mall parking lot. Police did not know whether the man had a vehicle waiting, Ward said.

City police notified the FBI, which is routine protocol anytime a federally insured financial institution is robbed, Ward said.

No arrests had been made as of press time today.
