SADDLE BROOK, New Jersey -- A man was arrested Friday night after he was caught on video slashing the tires of police cars in the Saddle Brook Police Department parking lot and placing profanity-laden notes on their windshields, police said.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. where the man was seen puncturing 12 tires as well as scratching the initials “FU” on the hood of one of the cars using a tire iron, according to a statement from the Saddle Brook Police Department.
The notes he left on police and fire department vehicles said “F*** Police, F*** Trump, Vote Jesus,” authorities said.
A short time after the man’s alleged actions, somebody called the police to report a suspicious person near the department and officers found and arrested Mazin Musbah, 25, of Maywood, police said.
Musbah had a kitchen knife and several notes similar to what what was placed on the police cars when officers arrested him, authorities said. He allegedly told them, “the message needed to be sent and personally wanted to deliver the message,” according to Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler.
Musbah was charged with criminal mischief and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and was processed and released for a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 2.
Kugler called the vandalism of the cars “disturbing.”
“As professional law enforcement officers we are designed to tolerate name calling and personal opinions of anti-police sentiment, but violence and property destruction should not, and will never be, tolerated by this agency," Kugler said. "As the law enforcement executive and government representative of this police department, I loudly and publicly denounce this misguided individual’s actions against police and call upon other government officials to do the same in all jurisdictions where unprovoked and senseless criminal acts like this one are committed”.
