Leave it to the ACLU to expose something. Sad state of affairs.

I don't see the problem. No illegal activity was found, so nothing was done. If the government feels that a group is a bit extreme and the investigation leads to nothing, so what. I'd rather know were protected and that someone is doing something, than nobody doing anything at all. The ACLU is going to be the destruction of civilized society.

Come it's the ACLU. They could find something to B**** about regarding anything. I dont even get upset anymore. Seriously, contact ACLU as police officer and make a complaint about your civil liberties being violated, they won't lift a finger. They rather protect the rights of criminals, cop killers, and terrorists.

ACLU - Another Clueless Liberal Untertaking

I think it is funny how they complain about money being "wasted" on these investigations, but they have no qualms about the money that gets spent by the states when the ACLU is dragging out appeals for convicted murderers and other assorted criminals to make themselves look good.

Anti-death penalty groups and peace activists were targetted. Why not the pro death-penalty crowd or war zealots? This is yet another obvious case of poor conservative leadership in our government.

If there is a criminal connection or good reason beyond "these guys are really passionate about their beliefs" then go check it out. Otherwise, let people enjoy their freedoms without being railroaded onto some terrorist watch list.

We know that radicals who commit serious politically motivated crimes have generally had current or past membership of lobby groups that are genuine in their want of change brought about by purely lawful means. The radicals not happy with these legally minded lobby groups then move into another sphere. This is why it is vitally important for police to continue to keep an eye on these organisations - in order to identify the nutters moving through them. This goes for anti-capital punishment, pro-capital punishment, anti-abortion groups, pro-abortion groups, etc, etc, etc.

Spies indeed
Damn ACLU. Those commie pinkos want to go and try to uphold the constitution. Law enforecment should be able to go around unfettered in the name of homeland security. How are we ever going to catch them terrists if the U.S. isn't turned into a police state? Damn libs. "vitally important" to keep an eye on them! Just like Hoover. Now HE knew what to do with them commies!

Public event?
The activist gatherings were all public events so who says a undercover cop can't show up? What's rights did they violate? None.
