GRANITE, Okla. --

A fight at an Oklahoma prison on Monday has left at least two inmates dead and 13 hurt, according to officials with the Department of Corrections.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokeswoman Betsy Randolph confirmed that a fight at the Granite Reformatory in Granite resulted in eight to 10 stabbings. She also said three inmates may have died, but the third death has not been confirmed with prison officials.

Injured inmates were taken to area hospitals. Details about the conditions of other inmates injured in the fight are not available yet.

Opened in 1910, the prison is a medium-security facility located near U.S. Highway 9 in Granite. It holds about 975 prisoners and has minimum, medium and maximum-security wings. However, the medium-security wing of the facility holds the most prisoners.
