New video reveals the frightening moments after a plane comes crashing down on a Caldwell baseball field.

It was a night some Caldwell residents won't soon forget. The dramatic video shows what happened in the minutes following the crash as the two men are pulled from the wreckage.

Wednesday night it wasn't only first responders who came to the aid of the two men involved in the crash, but rather a community.

It was anything but your typical ballgame in Caldwell Wednesday night.

"It was coming in and it hit the pole and if it wasn't for the pole it would have probably came in left field and hit some of us," Baseball Player Austin Scarmardo said.

But this was no fast ball, rather a single engine Cessna plane that crash landed just a few feet from the pitcher's mound.

"I didn't know what to do, I was so scared," Baseball Player Aidan Hosea said.

One of the first officers on the scene captured the chaotic moments following the crash on his helmet camera, as people rushed on to the field to help.

"The left wing was kind of hanging and it was on top of them, so we were trying to move the wing so they could crawl out," Eyewitness Gene Hawkins said.

First responders and residents at the scene ask the two injured men if they knew what had happened, to which one of them answered, "no".

It was scary day, that many believe could have been much worse.

"We've just been praying for the pilot and his passenger and hope they're ok," Hawkins said.

The two men in the plane have been identified as 24 year-old Bryan Farney of Taylor, and 39 year-old Cole Reed of Georgetown.

Authorities say it appears the men were looking for an open field to do an emergency landing. When they noticed there were kids on the field, the pilot banked sharply, causing the plane to hit a light pole.

Both men were taken to area hospitals Wednesday night, and were listed in fair condition Thursday afternoon.

Authorities believe the pair was on a flight path from Sugar Land to Waco when their plane began experiencing problems.

A preliminary report on the FAA's Web site states the aircraft's engine failed, causing it to crash just short of the Caldwell Airport.

Uhmmm. The only thing I got out of this story is that there is some chief somewhere that thinks helmet cameras is a good idea.

'THIS GUY' is afar from the herorics I read in the article. The pilot, needing to land, spotted a lighted field and began his descent. At near landing he saw the children playing ball. He tried to abort but his aircraft had faulted lift. I am very proud of this pilot. The helmet camera is no abomination.

Ummmm, can someone tell me why these citizens were trying so hard to remove these guys from the plane? It did not appear to be any immediate threat fire or explosion. I hope some of them were EMTs. The one guy was pulling the dude out by his neck. C-Spine or a little Chiropractic care???

Also, what is up with that helmet cam? Guess he was a MC officer.

You can see the officers motorcycle parked on the road. Helmet cam is a great idea. Am I the only one who thought it looked like they pulled the first guy out by his head? Glad to hear no one else was injured, good job by the pilot.

They didn't pull him out by his head, he was supporting his C-Spine, the cop was pulling him by his belt as the patient was pushing with his feet. They still should have waited till they had a backboard there and allowed the medics to extricate them, but I do agree with cutting the other guy out to make sure he is still breathing okay and has a good pulse...
