CUERO, Tex. --

Deep in the heart of Texas, one lawman thinks his deputies may have recorded footage of the elusive Chupacabra.

  • Some believe the Chupacabra is a mythical creature that only comes out to feed late at night. But Dewitt County deputies recorded their video during the day.

"I'm seeing it but I don't believe it. It's in the daytime," said one deputy. "A Chupacabra -- how crazy is this?"

Cpl. Brandol Reidel was on patrol with his partner when they saw something they couldn't describe. So, in case no one believed them when they told their story, they pushed record on the dashboard camera, capturing video of what some now say is the elusive Chupacabra.

"We came around a corner and saw this running down the road," Reidel said.

The creature is hairless, has a long snout, short front legs and long back legs.

"It just doesn't look like your average coyote or dog or anything," Reidel said.

Despite no official discovery of the beast, Cuero, Texas, boasts it is the world's Chupacabra capital. Some residents hope this really is their mascot.

The sheriff said he is willing to work with credible researchers who want to help solve the mystery.

    Chupacabra
Several years ago, I saw one cross the road near the Waggoner Ranch. It looked so unusual; however, isn't this obviously the Mexican Hairless, Xoloitzcuintli.

Look it up on the internet.

It is obvious that it is a coyote, or a feral dog, suffering from severe mange. These cops should have realized that, but I suppose the spirit of the Mayberry PD lives on in Texas.

The critter in the video IS NOT the one alleged to be the "chupacabra." The one in the video resembles, somewhat, the supposedly extinct (the woodpecker in Arkansas recently found was supposed to be extinct since the 1930s) "thylacine," also known as a "Tasmanian Wolf," of Australia.

The chupacabra, as reported from Mexico and all points southward including Puerto Rico, (it even once made a visit to old Spain!) stands upright and fits the description of a demon in a horror film. No, it isn't a hoax as the simpleminded prefer to describe it. Anything with red GLOWING eyes (not reflective as a cat's eyes but with a seemingly inner glow) is, indeed, "something else." All manner of cryptids have this characteristic --- from bigfoot to lake monsters.

These things do not attack humans to kill, but instead boogie the hell away from them (who the hell can blame them?) Anyone truly interested in learning why and wherefore about this, need only read the books of John Keel (esp. "Operation Trojan Horse.")

The FBI and military were crawling all around the El Yunque Natl. Forest (jungle), while barring all others, in Puerto Rico when chup. was first spotted there. This suggests that the govt, in the form of scientific research, was involved -- downloading "something" from another dimension/universe for military use. What they got was this critter (it might've looked different over there, but when downloaded into this dimension its pnysical form would have had to conform to forces in/of this one.

Notice also that it is only seen in places that are predominantly Latin in population (including Spain) It could also be nothing more than a Jungian archetype which condensed into matter for whatever reason.

The Chupacabra isn't real! This is just another joke that Patrolman Barney Fife thought up. He brought out is manged up dog and let it run free! Come on Barney get REAL!

I agree that it looks like a Mexican hairless (smooth skin, big ears, etc.) though the snout is unusually long. COnsidering Mexican hairless dogs vary a great deal in appearance, and that it might be a cross with another kind of dog with a long snout, that seems the most likely. It sure doesn't have red eyes, nor look like it would stand up. Comment about border runner is really stupid. Animals don't know anything about the Mexican/US border, for some their habitat goes across both sides and if we build a fence we will kill them.

    Not a dog....
I don't know about anyone else, but I've never seen or even heard of a dog with a muzzle that long, or a head or body shaped likethat. From the rear it almost looks cow-like. and it does not run like a dog or coyote, either, as mentioned in the video. Chupacabra? dunno. but dog? I think not. Not so sure about the tazmanian wolf theory, either. That's a stretch. What would it be doing in Texas?

Several reviews of the video, and high level meetings with MR. MILLER & MR. BUD I assumed the "Al Bundy" position on the sofa, broke out the old 45 player and played.... " Mother - in - Law ".
