U.S. Border Patrol agents in Hebbronville, Texas seized more than two and a half tons of marijuana on June 27, according to a statement by the Laredo Sector Border Patrol.

Agents were performing an immigration inspection of a tractor pulling an oilfield service tank when they became suspicious of people or contraband being hidden in the tank.

After searching the tank, agents found a false compartment containing 205 cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana. The bundles weighed a total of 5,059 pounds and have an estimated street value of $4 million.

The drugs, truck and driver were turned over to the DEA.

Any yet we still let in the trucks from Mexico thanks to NAFTA. I guess no one in the Federal Government could have predicted that happening!

dope
This type of illegal activity will never be prevented as long as the federal gov allows it to happen, and yes it could be stopped if it were a priority but rest assured it is not very high on the "list of things to do today".
As a 27 year veteran of law enforcement I have attended many conferences and brainstorming events concerning our southern borders and the crime associated with it and the entire issue revolves around the almighty dollar, all you hear is "we don't have the resources" that is a bunch of bull$hit excuses, take the money we give to illegal roaches that come into our country and bleed our hospitals and our school districts and you could have one hell of a drug interdiction unit.
Folks I am here in so tx I see what is NOT happening as promised by your floppyeard president, there has not been any change to the front lines it has not changed, we still get calls from rancher and citizens daily about wetbacks crossing their property, their trucks being stolen, fences being cut, deer camps being burglarized, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
ALL the government is worried about is slowing down those trucks coming from mexico, BP agents are ordered to not allow back up of the trucks on the roadway at the checkpoints, "keep them flowing" you can see this with your own eyes at the checkpoint at Callaghan 28 miles north of laredo on int.35, I see it on a regular basis , trucks being waived on by agents only to be stopped later in Wharton Co. or Victoria Co. by troopers and large loads of contraband discovered. Now my question is just how much dope or how many illegals or terrorist are entering our country by checkpoints not doing what they should be doing. As long as this such operating procedure is condoned our country is in harms way, facts are facts. PRESS 1 for english!!

pot
I agree with ya Sheriff..
Here is my two (2) cents on an issue>
I'm from the ole school West Virginia Law-Enforcement and quite frankly any law-enforcement that are patroling our border, shouldn't have any laws of search and siezure to follow. (To me its kinda like getting on a plane.) There rights should not exist when they illegally step foot in our country. If it looks shady you shouldn't have to have pc to stop and search them. Obviously it would make easier for your men to do there job. You guys are our first line of defense and quite frankly the goverment should send you some military equipment and men down there and put them under your command to help you patrol and defend our nation from these *censored* heads. Obviously that is not going to happen but its a nice thought..beats spending millions of our tax dollars in Iraq. Should be spending them at our borders. Keep kicking ass....god bless and stay safe!!!

just legalize it
why don't we just legalize marijuana, take the money out of the violent cartel's hands, and tax the hell out of it.
if your afraid of increased use, you shouldn't be, there's mountains of evidence from other countries that have tried decriminalization that show around 2-3% increase overall but that's just expected. people that smoke pot now still will, and the majority of people that didn't smoke will continue not to.

i want our hard working LEO's using their time more productive and pursue crimes that actually have VICTIMS.

ive never heard of a domestic abuse call when the suspect is high on marijuana.. haha

you cant even die from marijuana, it does impair driving skills, but to a MUCH MUCH lower extent then alcohol, remember that.
