    MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --

A manager at a Walgreens store escaped serious injury after a robber took him hostage Saturday to escape police following an armed holdup at the drug store on Biscayne Boulevard. The gunman was captured hours later in an area not far from the drugstore.

The incident played out in the front parking lot at the Walgreens at 9020 Biscayne Boulevard just after 6:30 a.m.

Local 10 cameras were rolling as the armed man led the manager out of the store with a gun in his back and into the manager's Honda Civic. The manager carried the armed robber's take, a bag filled with money. On videotape, police can be heard telling the man to surrender.

"Get back or I'll shoot him," the gunman can be heard saying as Local 10 photographer Fabrissio Lopez captured the dramatic action.

The manager struggled with the gunman as he was pushed into the car. Eventually, the manager was able to push the gunman away and get out of the car as the gunman fled, Local 10 reported.

About 18 shots can be heard being fired as the Civic sped away.

The gunman fled to 82nd Street and North Miami Court, where he crashed the car and ran off.

A few hours later, Miami-Dade police held a news conference and told Local 10 that the man had been captured after being found with gunshot wounds in the area of 82nd Street and North Miami Avenue. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

No one inside the store was injured. Employees were inside a stockroom in the store during the robbery.

The manager was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
