BOLEY, Okla. -- Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers get into a fight with a paramedic and it is all caught on video tape.

The incident happened near Boley in Okfuskee County.

In the video, you see OHP troopers pushing the paramedic and grabbing his neck.

The fight happened during an emergency call when a patient waiting to be taken to the local hospital was in the back of the ambulance.

Officials say OHP troopers became upset after the paramedic failed to yield while the troopers were rushing to a call of their own.

The troopers claim the paramedic assaulted one of them before the camera started rolling.

The video was shot by the patient's son. He says he continually asked the troopers to stop, so his mom could be taken to the hospital.

"We're like telling this dude. Man, my mom is in the back. My step-dad was like man my wife is in the back, can we do this at the hospital?" said Kenyada Davis.

The patient was finally taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol won't comment on the video while it's being reviewed by Okfuskee County prosecutors.

too much ego
I know the video does not show the whole incident, but from what is shown the trooper in front of the paramedic certainly was not being professional. He looks like he is playing drill instructor and is letting his ego get in the way. There are better ways to deal with a situation like that and escalating a traffic violation into this is not appropriate.

What about the important call the troopers were responding to? Did it suddenly become unimportant or did two citizens receive poor service from the OKHP, the poor woman in the back of the ambulance and the citizen that needed their quick response.

bad
Yes, this situation looks and is bad. Professional conduct was lost all the way around. But I am puzzled by one fact. The cameraman, who is the son of the woman in the ambulance, wasnt so concerned about his mom to plead his case, instead he had time to film what was going on. Maybe I am different but had it been my mom the last thing on my mind would be for me to film this. Just one persons point of view.

I know the video does not show the whole situation. But it would take a lot for me to arrest an EMT. I think I would have tried to deal with him directly and if that did not work then go through his chain of command. Nothing good is going to come from the way this situation went down.

I have never had a problem with firemen or EMT's yielding to our patrol cars. The same way I yield to them if I am not going to an emergency.

curious
Hard to judge the stroy here seeing a 10 second phone video. I am interested to see if the troops in car camera recorded more....

Fellas, no way we get out of this one. Arrest an EMT with a patient in the back of the bus? Come on.

How much you want to bet that at least one of the officers on scene knew this was a bad idea but didn't speak up because they didn't want to look weak?

We've all had those moments when we let emotions dictate actions. Backing each other up means keeping each other safe on calls and safe from doing stupid things. Once it gets physical, you now have to step into the fight and back your fellow officers. A little intervention early might have prevented the whole thing.
