PHILADELPHIA --

The Philadelphia police commissioner is seeking to terminate four officers and discipline four others over the videotaped beating of three suspects.

Commissioner Charles Ramsey says the decision was made after a detailed review of the enhanced videotape.

A total of 19 officers were involved in the apprehension of the three shooting suspects two weeks ago.

Some of the officers kicked and beat the three suspects, who had been pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation.

Two of the officers are relatively new to the force and can be terminated immediately. Two others are being suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
