A registered sex offender is in the hospital with a stab wound to the chest after police said a teenage girl stabbed him in self defense.

Police received a call of a bloody man walking along Mount Victory Road outside Powhatan Point around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, but the responding officer found nothing.

According to police, moments later a 16-year-old girl and her mother came to the Powhatan Point Police Department to report a rape.

Sgt. Tom DeVaul of the Belmont County Sheriff's Department said Victor Stevens, 42, of Powhatan Point, crawled through the girl's bedroom window when she was sleeping, threatened her with a knife and began to sexually assault her.

Police said a K-9 unit tracked Stevens' scent and located him at his home nearby.

"We made entry and discovered him hiding in the bedroom underneath the mattress and he had a stab wound to the chest," said DeVaul.

Stevens faces charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated rape.

Police said Stevens sexually assaulted a handicapped girl in 2007.

When he's released from the hospital, deputies said he will be transferred to the Belmont County Jail.

Im glad to see a victim react and take action against a scumbag for a change. This is a perfect example why we need to administer capital punishment on sex offenders!

Why is he out of Prison
If this guy was a registered sex offender convicted of sexually assaulting a HANDICAPPED girl in 2007, why is he out on the streets to victimize someone else. Geez, it's only been 2 years. This is what is wrong with this country now, lax prison sentences and D. A.'s who don't have the b**ls to go to trial or offer ridiculous plea offers.

Sex Offender
To Ghettocop, Too bad she didn't cut somthing else other than his throat, then he would not be a problem. I am glad to hear that the girl is OK physically, but she will have to live with the mental part of this for the rest of her life. I wish her all the best that life has for her in the future

castration not an aption...
...heres why...you can molest, abuse, etc without a weenie....DEATH is the only option for these a-holes.
REHABILITATION DOES NOT WORK FOR SEX OFFENDERS AND ARSONISTS!!!

Too bad the mother f***ker didn't bleed to death. People like him make me sick, I'd say we should burn them all, but why waste the gas. I say go old school with a public stoning. These pieces of sh*t need to be made into an example for every other sick bastard out there.

Long court date, put him in the general population and post copies of the news copy in the day room.

I know the assultee and was the first law enforcement contact after the assault. I refuse to call her a victim. Her actions during and after the assualt are awe-inspiring. I had a long talk with her a few days after the incident about the mental process she was going through now. She is my new hero. She knows there will be bumps in the road, but she is prepared to deal with them head-on. She is definitely sheepdog material.
