OHP
Never seen that before. A phone call to the Firehouse would have worked too.

I have to agree with both C445 & bill in Maine, although Erik T. is unfortunately probably right on the money (no pun intended)...

Exception to Erik T.'s comment
I take exception to the comments by Erik T. The comments by the paramedic in response to the failure of the DA to file charges were pretty respectful of the trooper.

I teach emergency vehicle operations and can tell you that many people do not here sirens until you pass by them. The field of vision is also less laterally for an ambulance. I could see where the incident could happen. I also think that the dash cam video should be released. If the paramedic did assault the trooper, then he should be punished within his ranks. However, the trooper's behavior should be equally dealt with if the footage doesn't show any assault on the trooper.

I have worked well with law enforcement on scenes for years and number many friends amoung them. I think tempers probably flared in this case - but the problem should have been dealt with at the hospital after the patient was delivered. That my friend, is indisputable.

Thoughts
All I can say is, at this point I hope IA at the very least slaps the troopers hand a bit. By bypassing ANY punishment to the trooper, this just reinforces the "god" mentality a few troopers have from time to time.

This COULD have been much worse, and thats the point that needs to be driven home to the trooper. Handle your business at the hospital AFTER the patient is released to the hospital's care.

I agree Jeremy, that the situation should have been handled at the hospital. However, the trooper is not the only individual here who should be addressed. The black EMT should've kept his trap shut, and like the officer, taken issue with the stop later. He needs his "hand slapped too" as you put it. And I for one, don't think the D.A. would've filed charges, even if the trooper had waited to deal with the situation at the hospital... Public Safety personnel ego tripping.. I bet it still would've been sh*t canned... and I bet Franks DID flip him off... he was mighty bold in his comments to the press, but he was kissing azz on the video...

agreed
All was well and appeared to be ending, (per the video), then White exits the ambulance and interjects, (obstructs). He made a not so good situation worse.

When they put in a request for the video, (as is standard in most departments/agencies), then we will see what the dash cam saw.

If White really did grab the Troppers neck "refusing to let go" as the previous article stated, then charges should be filed, BUT if that did happen, then I would assume that he would have been hooked right then, right there.

I will let the video show what happened.

"Franks said he respected the OHP and would never use an obscene hand gesture toward a state trooper."

Hmm, the bone jockey stubbed toe saver gets the last word and still gets to call the trooper a lier. Imagine that.
