FREMONT, N.H. --

Two police officers called to a motorcycle crash were hospitalized Friday night after a person became combative, investigators said.

An officer called to South Road at about 5:30 p.m. to investigate the crash suffered minor facial injuries, as well as the police chief who arrived later to assist. Both were taken to an area hospital to be checked out. They were released after being treated for minor injuries.

Police arrested Michael Dudley on the scene after a long struggle to apprehend him. Dudley would not adhere to officer instructions, and it eventually took officers from five neighboring towns to subdue him.

Dudley is charged with operating under the influence, three counts of second degree assault, resisting arrest, and multiple counts of simple assault. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail.

PATHETIC
"officers from 5 neighboring towns to subdue suspect"

1. Maybe that's why these liberal pathetic towns should invest in a TASER.....would of handled the situation without injury in a matter of seconds.

2. Since there is no taser available, these cops ever hear of hitting the gym.......no reason why it should take 5 or more cops to handle a drunken idiot........thats pathetic

And for those about to comment on these statements.....keep in mind I am a cop, and have been fro 10 years in a big city.......i can gaurantee it wouldnt take 5 or more of us to arrest this clown.......2 at the most

You have some valid points, Mike. He would have had the holy snot beat out of him (of course it would be of reasonable & necessary force to overcome resistance SWIFTLY) on my beat, before the situation progressed to the point of multiple deputies/officers needing treatment.

However, I'd like to know the stats/more info on this suspect. How damn big was he? Drunk, or on drugs (PCP/Meth)? MMF title holder? What, what, what?

Be it known that I have been invovled in takedowns that took as many as five deputies to subdue/gain control, but factors noted above were in play. Again, that was before we received tasers - love 'em!

MIKE
Mike you say your on the job in a big city? Well I work in a city where it has taken 4 to 6 decent sized officers to take a drug crazed suspect into custody. Guess you have never had to fight for your life against someone that has been doing speedballs for a week, along with being on Oxycodone!

Mike,
I am also on the job, and shall we say that I am fairly familiar with this case. The suspect was Tasered....Twice, as a matter of fact, but it had no effect. The first officer was injured due to the suspect pulling away from another officer while being cuffed. He then sucker punched the officer with the hand that had already been cuffed. The officer received several lacerations to his face from the initial strike with the cuff, and several bumps and lacerations to his head from repeated strikes while the officer held him down in a headlock waiting for backup.
As far as him receiving the "Reasonable and Necessary Force" which we all can agree he deserved, there were several family and friends of the doucebag on scene, all with their cell phone cameras going. Suspect's father had to be taken down by several firefighters and an off duty officer as he was trying to intervene with the arrest. The two injurred officers on scene did a good job holding the suspect down until enough help could arrive to prevent further injuries, and yes, the suspect was in very good physical condition, and also has a history of assault on P.O. and Resisting Arrest, that these officers did not know at the time. The only reason that there were 5 other towns was because the officer had the presence of mind to hit his emergency button on his radio while he was fighting with the subject. Since he was a little too busy to update dispatch with any information, they sent all available area officers.
So, Mike, maybe next time before you Monday Morning Quarterback a fellow officer's actions, maybe you should bear in mind that what you hear in the media is usually only part of the story. I hope that you are never injured trying to do your job, only to have a brother officer who knows nothing about the incident criticize what he thinks you may or may not have done.

Well put Jay!!! Big deal Mike, 5 other officers showed up to a scene to assist officers fighting. Instead of criticizing the officers on that scene, maybe you should ask why more people weren't rolling towards or actually at that fight. While I don't come from the big city like you, I certainly know that when neighboring officers are in a fight, I start rolling that way, and I hope the same is done for me. Who cares if it took 5, 10 or even 20 officers to subdue this guy? Is he in custody at the end of the day? Yes..... then as long as no LEO's got killed, that is all that matters.

It's to bad I can't report Mike as an imbecile ... I don't care how many officers are on scene as long as the job gets done.

FIGHT
Did anyone ever figure 5 towns.... might have 1 cop from each responding...I understand the officer hit the emergency button. Thank you 5 cops for responding.
Maybe officer "well built" has strength but no brains.

Usually I see 4 or 5 officers show up just to watch and then stand around and talk for a while before going 10-8 and taking any of the several waiting calls. At least these officers were actually responding and helping.

Thanks Jay for getting the real story out. Most of these stories we see on this website are half truths. As we all know incidents like this can get out of hand quickly. Since I was not there I will NEVER second guess the actions of a brother officer(s). Too bad the POS didn't make the proper payment to the tax man. What we should be bitchin' about is the stinkin' family and the lame bond the judge gave.

Stay Safe....

Mike, we all know that you officers from a big town are so much better than those of us working in rural areas. Thanks for the advice on how to deal with violent suspects. I always find it funny how big city officers put down small town cops. Small town cops know how to handle themselves by themselves very well. We do not have the luxury of thirty man squads providing backup, or multiple k-9 units chasing bad guys, or air units doing the searching for us. Thank you Mike for your advice.
