BROOKEFIELD, Wis.
--
The price of gas is forcing a suburban police department to cut back on its patrols.
Brookfield police have put together a directive of the 10 things officers need to do to try to save money on fuel.
The new guidelines include parking the squad cars in highly visible and high-traffic areas, turning off the vehicles and not idling, parking their vehicles and talking with businesses and residents.
Patrol officers are also limited to the number of miles they can drive per shift.
