    COBB COUNTY, Ga. --

Marietta police said they had no choice but to chase a suspected teenage drunk driver through neighborhood streets. Police showed Channel 2 the dashcam video from the chase.

"It started with a citizen who saw him driving erratically and called 911 and reported him," said Mark Bishop with the Marietta Police Department.

When the first Marietta officer arrived, the suspected DUI driver was standing outside his pickup truck. But police said as soon as they showed up, he promptly jumped back in and took off.

The teenage driver ran a couple red lights, traveled down the wrong side of a five-lane road, then took a left at some railroad tracks and went off-road for a bit, according to police. Near Kennestone Hospital he rear-ended a mini-van and seemed ready to stop, police said. But then he drove over the front of a Mariette police cruiser. All of the events were caught on police dashcam tape.

"He's striking other vehicles, he's showing a propensity to do damage, do harm to other people. (He has) complete disregard for anybody else on the road and that elevates the need for pursuit," said Bishop.

The chase came to a violent end on Church Street. The teen driver hit a SUV, which spun out with two people inside. The 17-year-old's pickup then went down a hill and rammed a medical office building. The teen, identified as Brandon Haire, was arrested.

The violent collision left several people, including Haire, banged up. They are all expected to be OK.

Police said they found evidence of drinking inside the teen's pickup.

"There was a bottle of Jack Daniels and some Budweiser beer," said Bishop.

Haire faces a long list of charges.

It seems that the youth today is going down hill. I am 27 years old and kids that are 19 have a long record either on probation or on parole. the Majority of the times, Parents are to blame for their kids to be criminals. what a shame.

    I know this Kid
I know this young man and he has always been in trouble I know this is a poor excuse and in no way makes him less guility because I have told him all of his life that there is on one thing you will always own the consequences of your choices THis was not kids raising kids This is a case of criminals and drug addicts raising the same . Both parents have had a life long career in both. It's a shame really a that to people like this jail is nothing other than three hots and a cot

Its good to see some agencies will still chase "dangerous people." In AZ, most agencies dont chase "suspected DUI's". We just shut our lights off, and turn around. That way, when they do wreck no one can sue us and claim we were the reason they were driving the way they were. Gotta love civil liability. Its really sad.

Moms and Dads can shown their kids what is right and what is wrong. As parents we need to see what sort of kids are hanging around with.

I myself have told my son not to hang around with some of the boys and girls that I saw and thank God he paid attention to me.

We can be the best parents in the world but, once they set out side they will do want they want. We can only hope that they follow what we teach.

If mom and dad are drunks or doing drugs then the kids will do the same. Our children are our to raise and prepare them for life not to waste away in jail or worst to die of drugs or in a car accident.

Check up on the kids and show them that you are interested in the friends that they see. Maybe just maybe we can keep them straight.

My son today is a Police Officer and the light of my life.

I feel so sorry for the innocent people this POS hit. Thank God they weren't killed or seriously injured. With them a speedy recovery, and wish this jackass a lengthy jail term.

Yes, yes, it gets old... They give us, guns, ammo, police cars with shiny lights and loud sirens. Train us how to use them. Then when we do use them to the best of our training and experience, we get sued. Thats what insurance is for! To the cops out there, don't be afraid to do your job, failure to act gets officers killed! Be the first to act, worry about the civil liability later! My officers are trained to act first. Remember the fantastic seven words! "I WAS IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE". Everything else will fall where it may!

I'm sure the occupants of both vehicles hit, will be suing the police department, almost guaranteed! But I bet if it were there son or daughter who were struck by this idiot, and the police would have stopped chasing, it would go the other way. Nothing has changed, just be safe, do as your trained and god willing, you have a department that will back your moves!
