Robinson said they would likely face in-house disciplinary action, but not criminal charges.

How much did that stunt cost the local taxpayers in man hours, emergency response, diverted manpower for security, etc?

Hey, Savannah.

Here in Colorado, we call that arson.

Do they not have felonies in the peach state?

Of course the Inmates or their families will sue the Sheriff for not stopping them from starting the fire. I'm sure there are more then one lawyer standing in line to represent them.

how bout this!! Punish them the way my dad would have punished me for smoking. Make them smoke an entire pack of collard greens cigarettes in one sitting!

$$$$$$$
Miami has had a tobaco ban in the county jail since 1991 and all that has done is increase the cost of a pack of smokes for crooks.( No need to speculate how they get'em). Prior to that crooks were able to purchase cigarettes through the jails system.

vamcdenver makes a good point that if ultimately tax payers are picking up the tab for what ever happens in these jails maybe it's cheaper to permit smoking and have some control rather than none.

I'm going out on a limb here, but maybe filtered cigarettes are'nt as bad for you as unfiltered lettuce and collard greens?

Probably no stastics on the long term medical costs associated with smoking salad. :)

Here's a thought.

Since most contraband comes in via staff, use tobacco sniffing dogs screen everyone who comes and goes.

Dogs should be trained to bite and hold.
