Sheriff's deputies and police are looking for Ponca Green, Doyle Bertschy, Kenneth Wayne Sherrod and Benito Jose Bustos.

According to Newkirk police, Green has been convicted of robbery and sentenced to five years in prison. Bustos is accused of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Sherrod is accused in Texas of fraud and writing bogus checks, and Bertschy is accused of concealing stolen property and burglary.

Police said the escape happened sometime overnight but was reported at 7:40 a.m. when a worker at the jail noticed a rope hanging from the back of the facility.

Sometime after the men escaped, police said, burglaries were reported in downtown Ponca City.

There is no confirmation that the jail escape is connected to the burglaries.

However, a silver 1987 Chrysler owned by Sherrod's mother was reported stolen early Thursday morning. The car had a Kansas license plate No. 961-AXN.
