I think the number of accidental death and injuries could be lower when more officers would use their seat belt.
During various ride alongs in the US, I noticed that a lot of officers didn't wear their seat belts, and I do not talk about tactical situation, but normal road patrol.
I know, when the heat is on, you do not think about that sometimes, or you want to get out quick of your car when the chase comes to an end, but especially during a high speed pursuit, a seat belt is the only thing that can save your life. There was a nice poster in the Berlin Police Department to remember every officers safety: "Only who arrives at the scene can help other."
When you crash enroute to the incident you can help nobody.
