This kind of "homegrown" terrorist is the next logical step for the militant Islamic who want to harm our country. Another attack like the one Timothy McVeigh carried out is extremely possible, and would be a tremendous victory for the terrorist community if it were to be carried out by homegrown "converts" to radical Islam. Especially since McVeigh still holds the record for the most US citizens killed by a US born terrorist.

Think about it. We are hyper-vigilant at the moment to anyone remotely Middle Eastern looking, we are supposedly carefully scrutinizing anyone who comes through an airport or border crossing and are randomly checking cargo as it comes through seaports for WMDs/explosives. Since we are hopefully making it so difficult for a foreign born terrorist to gain access to the country, they will have to resort to finding people already here to carry out attacks. The next generations of terrorists will most likely look like the average white middle class suburbanite and if they are successful in carrying out an attack they will have pulled off one of the most infamous and heinous coups in history. Imagine the publicity they can get from actually planning and carrying out an attack of this kind. US citizens murdered in "Allah������s" name by other US citizens who were duped into believing their hate filled rhetoric and who turned against everything this country stands for to advance the cause of murdering criminals like Al Qaeda.
