ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.
--
The State Attorney's Office has filed formal charges against a former Ocoee police officer accused of spanking a woman.
Thomas Maroney is charged with false imprisonment and battery, but not attempted rape.
Orange County sheriff's detectives began looking into the woman's allegations in July. Maroney admitted he spanked her at a party, but denied her claims of fondling and attempted rape.
The Ocoee Police Department later fired Maroney.
