Dashcam Catches Ohio Chief, Officer Making Out

After an Ohio police chief agreed to retire, officials released video showing him making out with a female officer while they were transporting a prisoner.

Timothy Escola, police chief in Perry, and Janine England, a part-time police officer, were taped by the dashboard camera in a police cruiser, The Canton (Ohio) Repository reported Thursday. They drove to the Cincinnati area to bring a burglary suspect to Stark County in northeastern Ohio.

Escola released an apology through his lawyer Wednesday, the day after the tape was released.

"Timothy Escola, former Perry Township chief of police, regrets and apologizes to his family and to the citizens of Perry Township for engaging in inappropriate behavior; and, he accepts full responsibility and accountability for his actions, along with the attendant consequences," he said.

The video shows Escola and England kissing and caressing each other. Escola occasionally glances into the back seat to check on the prisoner.

An anonymous tip led to an investigation. England's lawyer said she intends to remain in her job.

Vamcdenver - I hate to break it to you, but there is a clearly a sexist undertone in your comments. I notice that you make NO comments about the man who was, by the way in the position of power and control, and his poor actions and judement. Also, comments like, what else will she do "ruin a marriage?" are ridiculous and clearly show you believe that if a marriage is ruined through affair that it's the woman's fault. Women don't ruin other marriages, cheating men do! I have never felt "entitled" to my job, and nowhere in this article does it say she does either. It just says she intends to remain there. Personally i'm offended by this sort of behavior because it gives men like you another reason to critisize women in police work. So don't say you have nothing against females in public safety.
In fact, perhaps since you're so unbiased, maybe your can write two lenghty comments on how disgusted you are with the Chief. How he feels "entitled" to use suboordinates for sexual pleasure. Again, didn't hear one stinking word about how he should be ashamed!

Blondie...did you not read my last post?

The chief's action speak for themselves. Result? He is gone.

Anytime a supervisor does the quid pro quo bit they have crossed the line.

As far as my tone, I call them as I see them. As I pointed out, I have had to remove males for sexual misconduct as well.

My disdain for Janine England results from her self righteous attitude regarding her intent to stay in law enforcement.

Just like corrections officers who engage in liaisons with inmates, there can be no consenting relationship between the chief and the officer.

It still takes two to tango. Both should be discharged and P.O.S.T. decertified.

The chief is out. Nuff said.

England is still polluting the gene pool in Perry PD.

I stand by what I wrote earlier; and would say it again if she were a he, black, white, or blue.

Wow! I grew up in the Perry Twp. area. Let me tell you, this dept. has mostly been held in high regard within the law enforcement community. It is a suburb to Canton and Massillon, OH. A very nice area to live and raise a family. Very tight nit community.

With that said, what a huge disappointment for this to happen to Perry Twp. residents! This is a small police dept. They are paid very well and provide excellent equipment for their officers....even the part timers!

The Chief made an enormous mistake and should have known better but, at least he has accepted full responsibility and did the right thing and resigned. The female officer is an obvious cancer for any dept! If your reading this....do real cops a favor and QUIT NOW!

Set Up??

I just read an article in the Canton Repository and the Chief is now claiming that he was set up! Apparently, he was unaware that if you hold the power button in on the dash cam it will record in "covert mode" which means the screen and lights on the cam go out but the cam is actually still recording!

Yet another reason to "know your equipment". OOOOOOPS!

So what is the whole "set up" theory here??? How ridiculous! And so what if someone did rig the cam to record privately (even though no one did) you are in a Twp. Police vehicle on official business, on the clock, and lets not forget....YOUR THE CHIEF!!! There is no expectation of privacy in a friggin police car!

Why state that you accept full responsibility for your actions and then turn around and suggest that someone is out to get you or set you up!!!!
