WESTMINSTER, Colo. --

The intersection of 120th Avenue and Federal Boulevard was blocked off just after noon Thursday after a robbery and chase that involved gunfire and a police chase.

According to witnesses, a police officer in a black unmarked car was chasing a silver car north on Federal when he attempted a maneuver to spin the car around near the intersection.

Witnesses said a female passenger got out of the car and fired at the police officer and the officer returned fire, hitting the woman. She was taken to St. Anthony's Central Hospital in undetermined condition.

The driver of the getaway car was shot and killed and his body was still in the Subaru Impreza, with his seat belt on, 90 minutes after the chase ended. The car was riddled with bullet holes.

A police officer was also shot but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

A third person may also have been involved in the robbery but police did not elaborate.

Several witnesses at the nearby Baker Street Pub and Grill said it sounded like about 30 gunshots were fired between the suspects and the police officers.

A Federal Heights police dispatcher told 7NEWS the pursuit began when an unmarked Westminster police unit spotted the suspect's silver Subaru Impreza stopped at a gas station near 103rd Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Federal Heights.

"The suspects apparently stopped at the gas station at Safeway and the Westminster (police) car just happened to see them there," the police dispatcher said.

The suspect vehicle sped off through the shopping center parking lot as someone in the car began firing through the rear windshield at the unmarked Westminster police car behind it and an unmarked Federal Heights police car also in pursuit.

Westminster police said they cannot confirm that their officer fired shots at the car during the chase.

That's too bad. I'm sure that she is an excellent mother and was trying to turn her life around......her boyfriend was just trying to get home to his kids to tuck them in and read them a bedtime story.

Hope all the officers are OK and none of those pinko-commie-fag-hug-a thug politicians and administrators that colorado is so full of don't try to hang them out to dry.

Bank Robbery
Unfortunately neither one of the suspects had children. They were homeless and out of work but that in NO
WAY excuses them for what they did. They apparently were at their wits end and chose the wrong path to go down. They put several lives at harm including their own. How unfortunate that the economy is so bad that it has driven people to resort to such violence. Maybe we as Americans should start looking in our own backyards for peace before we worry about other countries. But then, this is only my opinion.
