You didn't observe this figure long enough to see it wasn't moving? Not judging, just first thing that came to my head. Better safe than sorry I guess.....lol

As much as people and law enforcement likes to cover things up, I don't think I would have let this story get out. This is one time I would have said the SWAT Team was using the back for a training exercise and all went well. Don't feel bad guys, Ihave heard of and seen worse screw-ups.

We operate in a dynamic and fluid environment where things are never text book perfect. This is a better outcome than hearing about another fallen officer. We are all served best in this job by not taking ourselves too seriously. This will be one that they will be laughing about for a long time.

Fire a couple rounds into a vest and carry a swat team member out on a stretcher under a sheet.
Swear everyone to secrecy.

Humerous ending. The most important thing is........ everyone went home alive. The nay sayers can have their opinions, but the responding officers followed protocal, and everone went home with something funny to tell instead of the opposite.

cardboard figure in bank
lets be realistic here just for a sec, yoo must remember theses guys are fully trained for any situation, use of a card board figure can also be a decoy for what else might be going on in the bank, thank god that their training allowed them to excercise caution and no one was hurt.

Temperature
Just a quick note that maybe the SWAT team should have 1 of those laser temperature readers....that way they could have seen that the person wasn't real by the temperature. They work really nice and are quite inexpensive, they also have a long range with great accuracy. Also, they could have observed the figure for a while and watched for movement. Silly mistake, but no one got hurt.
