BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --

A Bakersfield Police Department motorcycle officer was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after he ran into an SUV in downtown Bakersfield.

BPD said that senior office Jerry Whisenhunt was at the intersection of 20 and I Streets, when Isabel Rodriguez, 20, in an SUV pulled out in front of him at the intersection.

BPD said the officer did not have time to react and slammed into the side of her vehicle.

Whisenhunt suffered minor to moderate injures to his ankles and arms.

The woman told police she stopped at the intersection, but just did not see the officer.

She has not been cited.

I wish Officer Whisenhunt a full recovery, too. All year
around there seems to be selfish excuses why people are not alert and are impatient. Speedy recovery, Officer. You are missed on the streets!

I think that its a bunch of bull crap when someone says that they did not see someone in the road. Thats just a defense so they can seem innocent, when they were on the cell phone or just being careless. I wish the officer a full recovery and the 20 year old should have a 1 year suspended license and HEAVY fees.

M/C and SUV
The anti LE 5th estate strikes again. "California M/C officer slams into SUV". Then in the body of the report it states "SUV pulls out in front of him" (mc officer). Just once I would like to see an accurate and true news report.

The problem is that Truth and Accuracy does are not part of the media reporting style.

I wish the officer a speedy and complete recovery.

car drivers are not as good as they think they are... today on the 405 in long beach a "lady" was reading a book while in the fast lane. I have been riding over 45 years, and I expect not to be seen, like with the disabled placecard still hanging from the mirror or the mini rope and spirs. get well soon officer and ridem and writem
