I'm not condoning steroid use. However, if these allegations are years old and not current, then a written reprimand is more than sufficient. Notice how the reporter refers to them as "disgraced cops". No sensationalism there, huh?

yeah...
...what Biggs said.

BUT, LEOS...STOP DOING DUMB/ILLEGAL STUFF!!!!

Steroids are an issue.....As LEOs, we, (mostly), have crappy diets, crappy schedules a car is our office, which we sit in for long periods of time, we have little time when 10-7 due to family or off duty job responsibilities.

I dont blame officers for trying to get an edge over the bad guy, thats what we are supposed to do! But dont do it illegally. Those examples are NOT an excuse....you make time for whats important.

If they were legal and had no negative side effects, I would use them. Anyone know of any that meet that criteria?

Going back 8 years is BS, though!

steriods
The use of steriods is wrong! As a federal agent, I do not support there use. I ride a bike to keep in shape.

steriods
I got skinny legs and very small arms. I don't even think steriods would even help me.

Jay, I also agree that steroids are bad and illegal...But with that being said, You are a federal agent and he is a real cop. Most of us real cops work 12 hour shifts and dont really get much time to ride our "bicycles."

Not to beat up on the Feds, but they don't confront drunks, druggies, or felons on their own as frequently as us grunts. However I do make time to go to the gym and to do cardio. No steriods for me.

Sadly I know a bunch of cops at all levels, state, county and city that dabble in steriods right now.

Either way it is an illegal drug which I will have no part of.

Their doing it is their personal choice and they will have to pay the consequences if anything ever comes from it.

To me it is not worth losing your job and what you worked for to even possibly go to jail for getting freaky big.

I won't even mention the side effects or possible health issues.

I am a sturdy guy with a decent amount of bulk and muscle naturally. I work out 5 days a week, jog and used to be a state ranked wrestler in high school way back in the day (39y.o. now).

I have yet to think I was going to lose a ground fight or hand to hand situation by using good tactics and being in very good shape.

There is no need for juice IMO.

I have been a police officer for 16 years. I am currently assigned as a detective in the Narcotics Section of a department with approximately 1,400 sworn LEOs.

Steriods are an ILLEGAL drug just like Meth, Crack, Marijuana, Heroin...I think you get the picture.

As cops we constantly complain, sometimes bitterly, about the negative image(s) and the slanted reporting of the media and the public perception. We forget that we sometimes feed this material to them. We are human and make mistakes, however, ANY cop(s) who use illegal drugs for whatever reason is a CRIMINAL. Would any of you want your partner or any other backing officer using Steroids, Meth or Crack to respond to your calls?

You want to get a leg up on the bad guys? Spend a little more time at the range. Learn how to effectively defend yourselves. Two days a week an hour each session and you will be suprised at your progress. I have a family, home and kids. I always find time to workout (without illegal substances), train MMA and do a little tactical shooting. I owe to me, my family, ALL COPS and those who need the protection that good cops provide.

Sorry about being on my soap box. I once had a partner who downed dozens of diet pills and later prescription drugs by the hand full.

Stay Safe!
