ATLANTA --

An Atlanta police officer was injured Wednesday after he fell down a ravine while chasing a suspect.

Police said Officer Alex Crawford tumbled down a hillside near Verbina Street and Sewanne Avenue, close to I-20 west. He landed on a set of railroad tracks.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was treated for a broken arm.

He was chasing a suspect in a stolen car along I-20 when the suspect jumped from the vehicle and ran. Crawford was chasing the suspect on foot when he fell.
