Deputies are looking for the culprit in an armed robbery and car theft who ended up leaving the vehicle and taking off on foot.
According to deputies, just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, two women were leaving a house on Dartmouth Drive in Piedmont when they were approached by a man who asked if he could cut through the back yard. He then asked the 35-year-old resident if her keys were in her car. When she asked him why, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded her keys , she said .
The 24-year-old friend of the woman ran into the home and called 911.
Immediately after the call, a deputy spotted the stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the man saw the deputy, he ditched the vehicle and ran from the officer.
Deputies brought in police dogs to search the area, but they were unable to locate the suspect, who has since been identified as 21-year-old Travis Sentell Robinson of Greenville.
