"I don't think a person should have a criminal record and keep their job with the Air Marshal Service -- including a DWI," says U.S. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, who became alarmed after a Houston TV station reported on three such cases.

But politicians always set good examples!

That is a very HIGH number of very serious incidents for only approx. 3,000 members. That is not cool at all

Air Marshalls
The federal government in all it's wisdon has decided that a strong section of the law enforcement community that is now retiring is too old for Air Marshall service. These for the most part men and women who have "been there and done that" w/o issue. I for one would have considered the Air Marshall service following retirement. I have recently passed the physical side of the AZ POST and these folks don't cut any slack! Does the traveling community want to look to these Marshalls as a hired gun or someone who will resolve an issue w/o embarrassing results or actions. I don't hink anyone of significance will see this but I would encourage my brothers and sisters to jump on this. We all travel and yes many of the existing Marshalls are excellant folks but as I said earlier, a significant resource pool has been left out.

After being at the same training facility as these people, I can understand why the issues. Drinking and partying is a favorite pass time. If training in a frat house atmosphere is how we do it, there is no wonder there are issues. Control people. If you can't control yourself how can you control a situation for others? Don't get me started on the BP! They are far worse. Take them out of training in handcuffs on warrants non the less! Who screens these people any way? Agencies making bad decisions on hiring due to too many positions needing filled. Let the more "Matue" and experienced in. They might teach us a lot more, like discipline and self control!!
