C. J. Caufield is under appointment by Commissioner George Phillips to serve as the Senior Chaplain of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Alliance for Peer Support, a program of the Department of Public Safety. He is the Central Regional Director for the State of Mississippi Department of Health Crisis Response program and works diligently with some other key individuals developing the Mississippi Crisis Response Network, aimed at networking crisis response efforts throughout the state for first responders, medical facilities, educational institutions, industry, and general population needs. C. J. is a proud member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains and an instructor for many courses with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. He is a member of the National Crisis Response Team with the American Association of Christian Counselors. He currently serves as a pastor with the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he also serves as the Conference Disaster Response Coordinator and a member of the Ethics Response Team.
In February of 2007, he was awarded the "Community Service Award" in Baltimore, Maryland at the Ninth World Congress on Stress and Coping for his coordination of providing peer-based intervention services for the first responders in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. Outside of the various avenues of ministry and service in his life, C. J. enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, music, research, reading, and computers. Caufield earned his Bachelor of Arts from Belhaven College (Jackson, MS) and is pursuing his M. Div. at Memphis Theological Seminary. He is also pursuing a degree in Emergency Management.
