This is sad every time you hear about a Police Officer being killed. Its not only being shot at that can kill an officer, but little things such as this that can be fatal. It gets me wondering if another vehicle ran the officer off the road, and not only the wet foggy conditions that could of put the vehicle in a dangerous situation. And why didn't he have a seatbelt on? There is much forensics needed to come to the conclusion of this incident. God bless the family of the fallen hero that served so many, and my thoughts and prayers and with each and every fallen officer.

I think that when thing like this happened is sad because people that are in pursuit they dont think about the consequence of running away from the police. I think to that it was his fall since he didnt have the seat belt on. I think that him as a sheriff should show example to the public. I think that other police officer should look at this as an example, and that at all time they should have their seat belt on. I really think that you still have a change of living if you have your seat belt on. This is my opinion about this article.

My opinion on this crash that took a 58 year old county sheriff officer life is not really good. The reason I say this is that sheriff officer was not wearing his seat belt on that pursuit. Its sad in the same way because he was 58 years old. Probably left a wife behind. And I dont think he really thought he was going to died on that day. And what also makes this bad is he was going to be promoted to sheriff. And all of that time he was a sheriff was for nothing. It gone now and never will be able to be sheriff.

Loss of a Brother
It is always a tragic time both for immediate family in the loss of a loved one, like the family Brent Lee leaves behind. It is also a tragic event when a fellow or brother is lost in the law enforcement family. My prayers go out to those of Brent Lee's family, especially those who worked for him. May God Bless in your loss and keep you strong.

This is such a tradgedy for Bent's family, friends, and community. My family has know the Lee family for over 20 years. My father worked closely with him before they both retired from TABC. My parents went to the funeral today and said that it was the most moving funeral they've been to and it gave great honor to Brent as an officer of the Law. And about the seatbelt...I'm sure he was in such a hurry that it was forgotten in the heat of the chase. But the seatbelt wouldn't have saved his life, unfortunately, because the car went up in flames.

Prayers For Everyone Involved
cody - I'm proud to say you are an idiot.

gio - "I think that him as a sheriff should show example to the public". You should be taken from the living gene pool and properly disposed of for that comment. There may have been several factors as to why it wasn't on.

This 58 year old man died protecting people. The fact that he didn't have on a seatbelt shouldn't and doesn't matter. When I get a hot call, my seatbelt comes off early so I can get out of the vehicle faster. In case you didn't read it clearly the vehicle caught on fire. So, even with a Seatbelt on, the chances that he would have burned to death would be great. I think you two need to go jump in a deep hole and get lost.

Prayers be with you brother, and your family in this time of grievance. You can rest now, we'll take it from here.
